We’re back with another exciting Tern product update! This week, we’re releasing highly requested enhancements like optional times on itinerary activities that bring more flexibility and efficiency to your workflow. 

1. Optional Dates & Times

One of the most frequent requests from our community is now live! You now have the ability to add activities to an itinerary without assigning a specific date or time. This means greater flexibility when building proposals, itineraries, and free-time activities.

  • Remove dates and times from activities that don’t require them
  • Avoid the confusing “12 AM UTC” default time, eliminating unnecessary confusion for your clients.
  • Better represent flexible plans like free days or general exploration, improving your clients' understanding of their schedule.

This enhancement allows you to build itineraries that better reflect the reality of travel planning—sometimes, it’s best to keep things open-ended! A huge thanks to everyone who pushed for this improvement.

2. Email & Calendar Integration Upgrade: Faster, Smarter, and More Connected

We’re in the final stages of rolling out a major upgrade to our email and calendar integration, making it easier than ever to stay organized and connected with your clients.

What’s New?

  • Faster email syncing: enjoy improved speed and reliability when syncing emails.
  • Better email readability and deliverability: ensure your emails look great and land in inboxes.
  • Improved calendar management: a revamped scheduling system makes it easier to set availability.

What You Need to Do

If you’ve been using Tern scheduling links anywhere outside of Tern (like in your email signature or on your website), make sure to update those links by copying the new ones from your scheduling settings. You have until the end of March to update those links.

3. Clearer Authorization Messages for Optional Add-Ons

To eliminate any confusion, we’ve updated the authorization messages for optional add-ons. Now, if an add-on is missing a required detail—like a booking supplier or date—you’ll see a clear message indicating that it’s not ready for authorization.

This update ensures you have complete clarity on what’s required before sharing your itineraries with clients.
