New trip collaboration features, improvements to groups, and more!

Welcome back to our weekly Tern product update! From group travel improvements to the ability to seamlessly collaborate on trip insurance, travelers, and bookings, we can’t wait to show you the latest. Let’s dive right in!

Collaboration Features: A Big Step Forward

This week, we rolled out significant enhancements to how you collaborate on trips, laying the groundwork for full trip ownership reassignment—set to launch soon. These changes aren’t just functional but transformative in how teams work together on trip planning and management. Here’s what’s new:

  • Full Insurance Management for Collaborators: Trip collaborators now have full access to the insurance tab. They can add and modify insurance options, prepare them for authorization, and even access credit card details (if two-factor authentication is enabled). This ensures that collaborators can manage insurance seamlessly without needing the trip owner’s intervention.
  • Enhanced Traveler Management: Collaborators can now manage travelers directly from the trip’s overview tab. This includes adding new contacts (even shared ones), updating roles, and removing travelers, giving collaborators the same control as trip owners.
  • Booking Reassignment for Commission Tracking: For agencies where multiple advisors collaborate on trips, commission tracking can now be assigned to individual collaborators. For example, one collaborator managing flights can receive commission separately from another handling cruise bookings. This is a critical change to support accurate commission reconciliation and reporting, which is even more important for group trips!

These updates make collaboration on Tern more flexible while setting the stage for full ownership reassignment in the near future. Learn more about trip collaboration, or how to reassign bookings.

Group Travel Improvements

Managing group travel has never been easier, thanks to feedback-driven improvements to our beta features:

  1. Enhanced Landing Pages:some text
    • You can now link a phone number to the call-to-action button on your landing pages, enabling clients to call you directly from their mobile devices.
    • Sticky call-to-action buttons ensure that critical actions stay visible as clients scroll, improving the user experience.
  2. Reordering Sections: Editing your group trip landing pages is more intuitive with new buttons to reorder sections without copy-pasting content.
  3. Search Optimization for Group Sub-Trips: Searching for sub-trips by name or status is now supported, with plans to add client search functionality soon.

Looking ahead, we’re working on enabling client sign-up forms directly from group landing pages, which will automatically create sub-trips—a significant enhancement for group travel management. Learn more about our group travel beta features, or check out our roadmap to see what’s coming soon.

Sales Reporting: Smarter and Stickier

With the year’s end approaching, reporting needs are at the forefront. We’ve introduced two key updates:

  • Persistent Filters: Your preferred filters, such as booking date ranges, now persist even after you navigate away, saving time and reducing frustration. We’ve started with the sales tab, but will add support for received and expected commission very soon.
  • Negative Unclaimed Bookings: You can now log negative amounts for unclaimed bookings, making reconciliation more accurate for agency owners who need to log things like supplier charges this way.

Additional Updates and Highlights

  • Expanded Currency Support: We’re continually adding new currencies to keep up with your global needs.
  • Black Friday Sale: Individual advisors can save $30 when upgrading to annual plans or signing up for the first time between November 20–30.
  • Performance Improvements: We’ve been optimizing site performance for faster load times and smoother interactions.

Stay tuned for our upcoming updates—your feedback continues to shape the future of Tern. If you’re excited about these changes, we’d love to hear from you in our community forum or via support!
