Welcome back to our weekly Tern product update! From group travel signup forms to the ability to reassign trips, we can’t wait to show you the latest. Let’s dive right in!
1. Self-Service Sign-Up for Groups
One of the biggest improvements this week is the introduction of self-service sign-up forms for group trips. Advisors can now:
Enable sign-ups directly from a group landing page
Customize the sign-up forms to capture traveler details and preferences
Automatically create sub-trips, complete with the group itinerary as a starting point
Track form responses directly on the created trip (for all trips, not just groups!)
The sign-up flow is just the start of a broader self-service experience, with room selection and payment authorizations planned for upcoming releases. Check out our guide to group travel beta functionality, or learn more about our upcoming groups roadmap!
2. Enhancements to Group Trip Functionality
We’re making it easier for clients to visualize and engage with group trips:
Improved Landing Pages: Button text now wraps for longer labels, and itinerary options (like activities or excursions) are visible in previews, making it more intuitive for clients to explore their trip options.
Future Room Selection Options: Soon, clients will be able to select rooms seamlessly, eliminating the need for repetitive lodging setups.
3. Trip Ownership Reassignment
Tern now supports trip ownership reassignment, ensuring smooth handovers in various scenarios:
Agency administrators can reassign trip ownership to another agent, perfect for redistributing leads or handling staff changes.
Trip ownership changes now reflect:
The new owner’s branding on client-facing materials.
Existing bookings (for commission/reporting) will remain under the original trip owner, but any new bookings will default to the new trip owner.
Unlocking the owner-only tabs for the new owner of the trip (like automations, the summary table for trip authorizations, etc.)
This feature also extends to group trips and their sub-trips, allowing ownership to be managed at both levels. Learn more.
4. Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Improvements
Several updates were made to reduce confusion and improve usability:
Client itinerary ‘sign up’ buttons on top-bar direct to the streamlined traveler flow.
Filters for received commission, and expected commission reporting tabs will now persist when navigating between pages, ensuring a smoother workflow.
As always, bug fixing! The notable fix this week was correctly setting the ‘default agency’ when users create an agency for the first time, which wasn’t always working as expected.
Looking Ahead
The Tern team is hard at work on exciting features to elevate group travel even further. Room selection and complete self-service signup flows, including payment authorizations, are on the horizon. Be sure to tune in to our upcoming webinar for an in-depth demo of the full end-to-end groups experience.
